We spent a wonderful St. Martin’s weekend in the eastern part of Slovenia. Podravje is the region where vineyards roll endlessly over soft hills and every cellar smells of autumn and anticipation.

11 November marks the day when Saint Martin “turns must into wine” a beloved tradition here, celebrating the moment when grape juice officially becomes wine.

It’s a celebration of harvest, community, and the magic of transformation. Glasses were raised, tables were full, and every winery had its own story to tell. Slovenia may be small, but on St. Martin’s Day, it feels like the heart of the wine world.
